In May of 2003, director Jim Butchart shaped a production of The Importance of Being Earnest; this summer, he again shapes the same story - but in musical version with Ernest in Love.  True to Oscar Wilde’s original - Jack Worthing and Algernon Moncrieff have taken to the fashion of twisting the truth in order to add an element of excitement to their lives. Mr. Worthing has invented an imaginary brother, Earnest, whom he uses as an excuse to escape his boring country life and caper around town.  Mr. Moncrieff uses the same technique in reverse, as his imaginary friend, Bunbury, provides a convenient and repeated method of taking adventures in the country.  Eventually their deceptions catch up with them, resulting in a series of crises that threaten to spoil their romantic pursuits.  Featuring songs like "The Hat," "Mr. Bunbury," and  "A Handbag is Not a Proper Mother," - this tuneful musical is a tribute to Wilde's final and most lasting play.
