A MIDSUMMER GOLF OUTING OFFERS GREAT GOLF AND LOTS OF FUN!
Mark your calendars for some summer fun with friends! Enjoy great golf on an award winning course at the 6th Annual Midsummer Golf Outing for the UW-Whitewater College of Arts & Communication and Young Auditorium, on Wednesday, July 9. The outing returns to The Oaks golf course in Cottage Grove, Wis., check-in starts at 10:45 a.m., with the shotgun scramble to begin at 11:30 a.m. Proceeds from this event benefit the programs of the College of Arts and Communication and the Young Auditorium. The $100 per person fee includes an 18-hole round of golf, GPS Tournament System, providing real-time scoring for the entire outing so you can see where your team ranks, a boxed lunch, a bag of practice balls, a sleeve of golf balls, a chance at 4 hole- in-one prizes, which include $200 Capital Brewery Gift Card, Blackberry Pearl, 8 GB IPOD, Titleist 905 driver. The afternoon will conclude with Burger and Brat Cookout sponsored by First Citizens State Bank of Whitewater. The honorary co-chair persons this year are Francine Pease and John Heyer. Francine Pease has been involved with the University in a number of ways, including support for the Young Auditorium and Theatre/Dance Departments. The Performing Arts have always been an interest for Francine, beginning with performing in Christmas plays in a one- room schoolhouse continuing to this day with her presence at UW-W performances. During his decade as dean of the College of Arts and Communication, John Heyer supported the College with his time, talents and financial gifts. His commitment to the arts through both professional and volunteer activities is wide ranging, including service on the boards of several symphonies and arts organizations across the country. As dean of the College he provided leadership and vision, and as interim Provost his commitment to high-quality education at UW–Whitewater continues.
College of Arts and Communication alumni, faculty, and friends are also helping plan this year’s outing. The advisory committee members include: Gary D’Amato, Barbara Grubel, Dick Haven, Leslie LaMuro, Jason Manke, Kat Mawhinney, Gary Wendler, and Gery Woelfel.
The Oaks Golf Course was listed #5 on the list of America’s Best New Affordable Courses and the top five reasons are: conditioning, playable by all, service and professionalism, design variety (5 Par-5 and 6 Par -3 Holes) and it’s fun!
