Career and Leadership Development

Skills

Students can gain all of the skills sought by employers by getting involved in campus life. At UW-Whitewater we have a number of Pathways of Student Involvement.

Pathways:

Work on Campus
Over 2,000 students are employed on-campus annually. Jobs range from Orientation Leader to Custodial, Desk Receptionist to Event Planner. Campus employment enables students to gain a strong work ethic, communication skills, computer skills, and honesty & integrity.

Student Organizations
Approximately 5,000 students are involved in student clubs and organizations. Many of the organizations are professional organizations, directly relating to a student's career path. In all clubs and organizations, students learn interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and flexibility & adaptability.

Represent Students
Students are encouraged and expected to participate in university governance. This includes the Whitewater Student Government, Residence Hall Association, Leadership Involvement Teams, Deans Advisory Councils, and numerous campus committees and advisory boards. Students gain motivation & initiative, analytical skills, organizational skills, and communication skills.

Academic
UWW provides opportunities for students to become directly involved in research and scholarship. Programs such as the Undergraduate Research Program, University Honors Program, Study Abroad and International Travel, and the King-Chavez Scholars, all allow students to engage their scholarly interests at a high level.
