Operations Management

Operations Management (OM) is the management of all activities necessary for the creation of goods or services. It encompasses a great variety of activities. This major provides excellent training in preparing individuals to obtain entry-level jobs and as they progress through their careers. Graduates with OM majors are some of the most sought after individuals by both regional and multinational firms. Last year the average salary was one of the highest on campus and most graduates received multiple job offers. What kinds of jobs are there for OM graduates? Depending on one's interests, opportunities lie in managing/manufacturing operations, supplier relations, consulting, software implementation, and so on. OM managers are decision-makers. They decide what hours should be worked, how many employees are needed, how many units should be made, what quantity of materials is needed, how the facilities should be utilized, and where the company should locate.
