UW-Whitewater at Rock County Sign Language Basics for Teens and Tweens

American Sign Language (ASL) is a language used for centuries by people of all backgrounds and abilities. It is the fifth most-used language in the U.S. spoken by over 500,000 people. These classes will help teens and tweens to learn to express themselves visually, using their hands, eyes, face and body, and communicate with others in a meaningful way. We will learn the five parameters of American Sign Language, ASL handshape including ASL orientation, location and movement, and basic ASL vocabulary. We will also explore deaf culture and develop an awareness to this community of non-hearing people.  This event is available to youth ages 10-18.

Space is limited to 10 registrants.
