Challenging Advanced Learners Academy

Challenging Advanced Learners Academy

June 22-23, 2015

UW-Whitewater is pleased to announce the Challenging Advanced Learners Academy. This two-day standards-based intensive academy will focus on how to meet the needs of academically gifted and talented students, and how to develop the gifts and talents of diverse students, in the context of major education initiatives such as RtI, 21st Century Skills, assessment, and the Common Core Standards. Nationally-known speakers and state experts will provide keynote talks, breakout sessions, and informal interaction with participants.

The Academy is particularly appropriate for teachers, administrators, school psychologists/counselors and others interested in finding and developing PK-12 student gifts and talents. Presentations will be tied to the NAGC-CEC Teacher Preparation Standards in Gifted and Talented Education as well as to DPI teacher, administrator and pupil services standards.

The Challenging Advanced Learners Academy will be offered at cost thanks to a grant from the UW–Whitewater Education Outreach Grant Program. Optional course credit can be obtained for an additional fee.
