UW-Whitewater Wheelchair Basketball Camp

The UW-Whitewater Warhawk Wheelchair Basketball Camp will be conducted on the picturesque campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Our camp is going on its 27th year of providing quality instruction, focusing exclusively on developing basketball skills.

This camp is available to boys and girls, ages 8 to 18, who have an interest in improving their wheelchair basketball skills. All levels of mobility are encouraged. Individuals should have a positive attitude and willingness to challenge themselves.  A positive attitude will lead to positive outcomes.

Resident Camper:  $480

Resident campers will be housed in one of the residence halls located on the UW-Whitewater campus. The residence hall has a secured entrance and the campers are monitored by the residence hall directors, assistants, and by our own camp counseling staff. Roommate requests will be honored when possible; otherwise campers are paired by age and gender. Developing new friends is encouraged. Rooms are double occupancy only. Please note that our residence halls are not air conditioned. We strongly advise campers to bring a fan if possible. The bathrooms and showers offer clean, individual stalls for privacy. Resident campers will have three well-balanced meals each full day. Meals are included in the registration fee.

Commuter Camper: $380

Commuters are campers who elect not to stay overnight in the residence halls. Commuters do not eat breakfast on campus but will be provided with lunch and dinner. Commuters will be able to go to the residence halls between sessions with teammates or friends if they choose.

Resident Attendant Fee: $230

Attendant will be housed in one of the residence halls located on UW-Whitewater campus.  Rooms are double occupancy only.  Roommate requests will be honored when possible; otherwise attendants will be paired with other attendants by gender.  Resident Attendant will have three well-balanced meals each full day.  Meals are included in the registration fee.

Commuter Attendant Fee: $110

Commuter attendants have the option to eat lunch and dinner with camper.  

Group Discount: Any team sending five (5) or more players to the Wheelchair Basketball Camp will receive a $30 discount.  Make sure to use promo code 5GROUP30 at check out if you believe you will qualify.  Discounts cannot be applied after you register and pay. You will be charged $30 if less than five (5) do not attend camp from your team.

Fee Includes

The resident camper fee covers lodging, meals, instructional materials, a camp  clothing*and insurance. The commuter camper fee includes noon and evening meals, instructional materials, a camp clothing* and insurance.  The attendant fee covers lodging and meals.  Resident attendant fee includes meals and lodging.  Commuter attendant fee includes meals.

*Clothing is guaranteed if registered by 5/29/19.


All registrant accounts must be paid in full three weeks (21 days) prior to the start of the event.  Registrants with outstanding balances after payment is due in full are subject to being removed from the event roster without refund. Please contact Continuing Education Services at prior to this deadline if extenuating circumstances prevent you from completing a payment.

In the event of a cancellation, Continuing Education Services should be notified no later than 21 days before the start date of the event session in order to receive a refund, less the $100 non-refundable deposit. Cancellation requests received less than 21 days from the start of the event will receive a refund minus a 50% late cancellation fee of event cost. Cancellations due to medical reasons will receive a full refund, less the $100 non-refundable deposit, if the cancellation is requested and medical documentation is provided prior to the start of the event. Valid medical cancellations must include a signed letter from a licensed physician to qualify. NO REFUNDS will be given for withdrawal due to early departures, disciplinary reasons or no show after the event has started.

All cancellation requests must be submitted to; provide registrant's name, event title and medical documentation, if applicable. Refunds will be returned to name and address of payer.

We reserve the right to cancel any event due to low enrollment; in such a case, all fees paid will be refunded or the registrant can choose to apply fees to a different summer event.

Pre-camp information includes medication requirements (complete only if taking meds at this event), check-in and out times with locations, confirmed daily schedule, what to bring and other important information you will need to know before attending camp. Confirmation Emails

Once you register a confirmation email will be sent to your email account. Contact if you do not receive this confirmation email. Summer Camp Rules

UW-Whitewater will hold all campers responsible for their conduct. Serious misconduct or disruption will lead to immediate dismissal from camp. Campers dismissed from the camp will not receive a refund. Review Summer Camp Rules for more details.

Airport Pickup

Please label all of your wheels, chairs, bags, etc. very distinctly. We will be picking up more than 30 people and taking all the chairs apart. If you do not label them properly, it will be a nightmare putting them back together when we get to Whitewater from the airport. Please label everything clearly! Perhaps with some sort of color code or fun markings that make your things stick out. Parking permits are required on all vehicles parked on campus at all times, with the exception of the location of the time of check-in/check-out and 5 p.m. Fridays to 11:00 p.m. Sundays.  Registrants or attendants driving themselves and keeping their car on campus must pick up a parking permit from director at the initial event meeting.  More information on parking is on the Visitor Center website.

Be aware that we recommend that all portable electronic devices be left at home (iPod, Fitbit, cell phones, etc), but ultimately it is your decision. We will not be responsible for any lost or stolen items.

Athletes planning on attending this camp should be extremely independent and have a strong interest in competitive basketball. Athletes will participate in a variety of stations focusing on both individual and team concepts, and will be instructed by some of the best wheelchair basketball players in the world.

Campers should be prepared for at least seven hours of basketball per day and able to take care of themselves in a university setting. Participation will be limited to 80 athletes.

This camp will offer the participant/athlete opportunities to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally through participation in a variety of sporting activities and through instruction with peers and camp staff.

Special emphasis will be placed on developing the skills of self-esteem and self-determination. Participants will also have the opportunity to spend a week on a totally accessible campus, experiencing university life and gaining the experience of being away from home. All campers are under the supervision of professional and highly trained staff.

The over-arching goal of this camp is to offer participants the opportunity to have fun, gain greater awareness of their abilities, and build their independence and self-confidence.

All facilities, including gymnasiums, tennis courts, track, and University Fitness Center, are completely accessible. Our facilities feature the latest in Nautilus strength training equipment and aerobic training machines. All areas are accessible and checked well in advance to verify their appropriateness.

Camp Staff

Jeremy Lade, Camp Director

Jeremy Lade

Jeremy Lade will lead a very talented and knowledgeable staff of national, intercollegiate, and community-based players and coaches. Jeremy has been a member of the USA National team program since 2001 and has won several gold, silver, and bronze medals at various competitions throughout the world. He was the captain of Warhawk National Championship Wheelchair Basketball teams in 2003 and 2004 and was named National Player of the Year in 2005. Jeremy is the only individual to earn Intercollegiate National Championships in wheelchair basketball as both a player and a coach.

Christina Schwab, Assistant Camp Director

Christina Schwab

Christina Schwab is the second head coach in the history of the UW-Whitewater women's wheelchair basketball team. She has played at all levels in the sport of wheelchair basketball including the US National Team, competing in five Paralympic Games and winning gold medals at the 2004, 2008 and 2016 games. Her coaching experience spans from coaching at numerous UW-Whitewater & USA developmental camps to the junior level with the Denver Rolling Nuggets as well as the collegiate level with her alma mater.

Steve Wilson, Director of Instruction

Steve Wilson, former head coach of the USA National Team (2005-2008), will be designing the curriculum that will challenge athletes of all ability levels. Steve provides years of coaching experience at many levels.


Registrants are encouraged to have their own health insurance as accident insurance provided by the University is limited. Each registrant will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $10,000. Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee.
