UW-Whitewater Children's Center Director
I have lived in Whitewater since I transferred here as an undergraduate student. As an alumns of UWW, I earned both a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I worked for 10+ years as a Kindergarten teacher in various elementary schools until I took some time to work in the home raising my two young children. During this time, I was lucky enough to come back to UW-WHitewater as a part-time instructor and supervisor of Student Teachers in the Early Childhood Education program. In 2013, I was offered the position at the Children's Center as Interim Director. In January 2016, I became the full time Director. Working with young children and families brings me professional challenge, joy, and a great deal of reward. My favorite activities involve attending my now teenage children's activities: soccer, baseball, basketball games, bowling league, band concerts, and much more. We love being a part of the Whitewater community! In my spare time, I have been challenging myself to try new things. This has lead me to running and tap dance classes - way out of my comfort zone with both.
Hi my name is Peggy Lean. I am the Program Associate at the Children's Center. I live in Palmyra with my Husband and 3 beautiful girls, Samantha, Sydney, and Sophia. I graduated from Waukesha Technical College with a degree in Office Management / Data Entry.
I have worked at the Children's Center since January 2004. Most days I can be found in the office at 1006 Roseman. At times you can also find me helping out in the Classrooms.
When I am away from the Children's Center I am usually with my 3 very active girls. They are all involved in sports (soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball) and farm life. We raise, show and sell beef cattle at the Jefferson County Fair, and have 3 horses that we show and ride. When we are not playing sports and with the animals, I love traveling.
Robin Room (Toddlers)
Hi my name is Jennalee Johnson. I live in Edgerton with my family (Martin and Harlan)! We enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. In my free time, I love doing yoga and reading. This will be my second year at the Children’s Center. I look forward to seeing continued growth and relationship building with the children, families, and staff that I worked with in the Infant classroom during the 2017 – 2018 school year. A bit about my professional and educational background: I completed my undergraduate work here in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. In 2011 I began teaching in a 4K classroom and quickly realized that Early Childhood was where I was meant to teach. During the summer of 2013 I came back to UW-W to complete graduate work to obtain an add-on Early Childhood Licensure. I taught 4K for six years in various settings including University Avenue Discovery Center, Madison College and Wisconsin Heights School District. If you see me out and about please say hello!
Mallard Room (Young Preschoolers)
Hello! I'm Breanne Karn and I am the Toddler teacher at UW-Whitewater Children's Center. I have worked at the center since January 2015. I taught in the preschool room in the spring of 2015, then looped up to the 4K room for the 2015-2016 academic year. I will continue to loop with my group of children from the last two years as they move into the Mallard Room this fall.
In December 2013, I completed my undergrad in Early Childhood Special Education. After completing my student teaching I worked at a private preschool where I taught 2-3 year olds until I was hired at the UWW Children's Center. I grew up in Belleville WI, which is about a half hour south of Madison with my parents and my sister Jessica. I enjoy going to concerts and the comedy club on my free time, along with watching football, spending time outdoors, and visiting friends and family.
Owl Room (Preschoolers)
Hello! My name is Samantha Kincaid. I have worked at the UW-Whitewater Children's Center since I was a freshman in college, studying Communication Sciences and Disorders. I graduated with my undergrad in Comdis in 2015. After college, I found that my heart belonged to teaching and my family that I had discovered at the Children's Center. I taught at a center in Delafield for about two years and finally found my way back to UW-Whitewater Children's Center in winter of 2018. I truly believe in the Children's Centers Philosophy and cannot be more proud to be a part of such an outstanding team. I recently got married June of 2018! Currently I live in Dousman WI, about 35 minutes from Milwaukee with my husband Chase. We enjoy spending time with our large family that includes 12 nieces and nephews! We love to travel, hike, and fish!
Crane Room (4K - Pre-K)
I have worked at the Children’s Center since January 2009! First as a teaching assistant and then also became an associate. In May 2013, I completed my undergrad in Elementary Education (Minored in Special Education) and was hired as a lead teacher at the Center. After my first year teaching I went back to school to obtain a licensure in Early Childhood. I have had experience in every classroom at the Center, but this will be my FIRST year in the Crane classroom. I really am excited (and a little sad) to be completing my first full loop with my students! I absolutely LOVE teaching and couldn’t imagine doing anything else. I really enjoy teaching the children about things that THEY are interested in and watching the excitement on their faces. I was born and raised in Verona WI, which is about 15 minutes from the west side of Madison. Currently my partner and I are living in Edgerton WI. with our brand new baby – Paisley, born May 2018! Having her has given me more of a perspective on how much trust you have given me to teach your children! SO THANK YOU! Please don’t ever hesitate to contact me, with anything!
I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome. I am very excited to be a part of the UW-Whitewater Children's Center. My name is Kim Wille and this is my first year in the Hummingbird Room. I look forward to looping with the children and being a part of their lives. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I even went to Umea, Sweden for part of my student teaching. I taught two years in Janesville, WI at Preschool for Janesville (P4J), third grade in North Carolina and eight years in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin. I enjoy traveling, walking, crafting, and spending time with family. I live in Whitewater, WI, with my husband, Sam. We have five children and six grandchildren.
