Research Interest

My lab mainly uses the model terrestrial plant, Arabidopsis thaliana, as the experimental system. My two main research questions are: 1) How does calcium signaling work? 2) What are the effects of high-volume pharmaceutical and personal care products on the environment?

What will a student working in my laboratory learn?

My laboratory uses a combination of genetic, molecular, biochemical, physiological, and analytical techniques to address crucial questions in plant growth and development. Students in my laboratory typically participate in multiple, concurrent projects, and are expected to be involved in all aspects of each project (from library and on-line research, design, implementation, data collection and analysis, to result presentation). Teamwork and good communication skills are highly encouraged in my laboratory.
