The Political Science Department offers the following scholarships and awards:

  • The Dr. John F. Kozlowicz Scholarship in Legal Studies
  • The Loizzo and Loizzo Scholarships
  • The Institute of Democracy and Civic Engagement Award
  • The Political Science Writing Award

All applications are due in the Political Science Department office Friday, April 3, 2009. Please click on the award name in the descriptions below for full application instructions.

  • The Dr. John F. Kozlowicz Scholarship in Legal Studies is awarded to a student interested in pursuing a career in law or legal studies. An applicant must be a Political Science Major or Public Policy and Administration Major with a Legal Affairs emphasis. Additional requirements include a minimum 70 credits at time of application, a minimum of 15 units in Political Science coursework at UW-W, and a minimum 3.5 GPA in Major and 3.3 combined GPA overall.
  • The Loizzo and Loizzo Scholarship is awarded to five students with Political Science, Public Policy and Administration, and International Studies majors. Additional requirements include a minimum 70 credits at time of application, a minimum of 15 units of coursework toward their selected major at UWW, and a minimum 3.5 GPA in Major and 3.3 combined GPA overall.
  • The Institute of Democracy and Civic Engagement Award provides a stipend to a student enrolled in program in the College of Letters and Sciences to complete an internship or field study for academic credit meant to enhance the understanding of American democracy and to cultivate student interest in and appreciation for civic engagement through public service. The recipient must have at least sophomore standing and a 3.0 GPA.
  • The Political Science Department Writing Award is awarded to a student with a Political Science, Public Policy and Administration, or International Studies major or a Political Science, Public Administration, International Studies or Legal Studies minor.
