Services Provided: Provides social work for inpatient medical patients at Beloit Hospital. Services include: assessment of patient needs, crisis intervention, patient discharge planning, referrals to community resources, provide support.

Summary of Expected Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes of Student Interns: After an initial orientation, interns will begin to assume the responsibilities of an inpatient hospital social worker. These responsibilities include assessment of patient needs, brief counseling, and documentation of these activities in the patient chart. Crisis intervention services occur in the emergency room. Patient discharge planning with linkages to various community resources and being a liaison with those agencies. Job requires becoming a team member along with MDs, nurses, therapists, etc.
