Services Provided: Case management and counseling for juvenile females associated with the Dane County Juvenile Court System. An 8-bed facility serving females the ages of 12-16 years. Maintain contact with county social workers, therapists, school personnel, and other treatment providers. Supervise medical/dental services. Develop individualized programs to meet the needs of each client.

Summary of Expected Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes of Student Interns: Students will work with case managers assisting with daily case management tasks such as contacting treatment providers, parents, schools, etc. Students will learn how to write monthly progress reports as well as court reports and termination reports. Students will work individually with one or more clients providing treatment goals and assignments; targeting issues such as self-esteem, eating disorders, alcohol/drug abuse, family issues, anger management, etc. Students will also have the opportunity to visit other agencies or programs serving youth, such as the Juvenile Detention Center, Alternatives to Aggression, etc. Students will also be asked to collect information on area resources or issues related to our clients. Finally, students will be considered staff members and residents will be expected to interact with them as such. Students will be asked to discipline as well as reward for their behavior.
