Services Provided: Thoreau House provides 24-hour supervision. We work with the young man and family to transition home. We do daily groups and individual family sessions as needed. Each resident is expected to review Independent Living Skills and educational drug and alcohol packets. Thoreau House does educational supervision as well as tutorial help. We expect that the young man attend school. Thoreau House provide age-appropriate education for residents' health and well being. The target population is 13-18 year olds who have been interviewed and have reported a need for the program.

Summary of Expected Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes of Student Interns: All interns at Thoreau House are expected to develop a relationship with the residents. They will also be expected to hold residents accountable. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in individual and group sessions. After time you will then be expected to learn case management with a single client. This will help you develop a working knowledge of the system and the state laws. You will be able to work with the families to develop better communication skills and to set up passes. You will also be expected to go to court and to show that you can write monthlies to the social worker.
