Services Provided: The agency consists of three main program areas. The first program is the 'WCAP' (Waukesha County Abstinence Project). Our Abstinence Educators go into the junior and high schools in Waukesha County to present an 'abstinence only' message. These presentations are upbeat while getting the students involved and relaying the message. Presentations can also be done out in the community upon request.
Our second program area is Pregnancy Outreach and Support Services. This program consists of Case Managers working with young women experiencing an unplanned pregnancy. Our Case Managers will go thru pregnancy and parenting curriculum, help clients with community resources that they may need, get clients set up with our Childbirth Education Classes and help with many other needs a client may have. Our 24-hour Pregnancy Resource Line is also available for information and referrals. Another component of this program is the Linden Cherish Place. This group home is for pregnant and parenting teens who are 16 or 17 years of age. They will continue their schooling while getting the help and resources they need to become a successful parent.
Our third program is Childbirth Education classes. These classes are geared towards young, single women. We offer classes in Waukesha and Milwaukee counties. We also offer individual classes on an as needed basis.
Responsibilities and Learning Outcomes of Student Interns: Interns will work in the Pregnancy Outreach and Support Services Area. Duties include answering the Pregnancy Resource Line, working with clients to case manage, and going out into the community to meet with other agencies to see what services they offer. Interns have also had the opportunity to do some work at our group home on an as needed basis. We feel we give our interns a wide variety of great experience.
