Louis Betty holds a Ph.D. in French literature from Vanderbilt University. At UW-Whitewater, he teaches all levels of French, as well as the World of Ideas General Education requirement. His research interests include philosophy and religion in literature, contemporary French literature, and the fiction of Michel Houellebecq, one of France's most prominent authors. He has published scholarly articles, book reviews, and opinion pieces, and has recently completed a book manuscript on Houellebecq.
