Diane R. Soles (Ph.D. U-W-Madison) is an Assistant Professor of Sociology and teaches courses in Social Theory and Social Inequality, specifically Race & Ethnicity. She offers by on-campus and on-line courses.
Prof. Soles' research focuses on political culture in Latin America, which she often integrates into her courses. She had done field work in Chile, Nicaragua and Cuba; completed internships in Colombia and Mexico as well as travelling in South America, Central America, and the Caribbean. She has published articles in English and Spanish in the U.S and Latin America, with a book chapter forthcoming in Europe in 2009. Her work covers a broad spectrum of topics from gender and social movements in Chile to censorship and the film industry in Cuba. In addition, Prof. Soles is interested in visual sociology and cultural studies.
