William Lowell Putnam Competition
This is an annual mathematics contest for undergraduate students sponsored by the Mathematics Association of America. The contest is administered the first Saturday of each December and consists of twelve very challenging mathematics problems. Students work on six problems in the morning from 9 until noon and six more problems in the afternoon from 2 until 5. To see a list of recent competitions and solutions, see http://www.unl.edu/amc/a-activities/a7-problems/putnam/
This year from now until December Professor Kane and Professor Drucker will meet with students on Mondays from 7 until 8 PM in McGraw 122 to discuss strategies for solving Putnam Competition problems. If you have any questions about the competition or want help preparing for this year's competition, contact Professor Kane in McGraw 109 (262-472-5002) e-mail: kanej@uww.edu.
