2014 UW-Whitewater Nanoscience Symposium: Nanosafety

 Nanobiology Workshop - UH 206

- We will use polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to assess interactions between dyes and nanoparticles.  Modifying nanoparticles with dyes allows visualization of nanoparticles and enhanced photoreactivity.

 Nanochemistry Workshop - UH 246

- We will assemble and test nanocrystalline dye-sensitized solar cells and learn about how nanomaterials can be used for renewable energy.

 Nanophysics Workshop - UH 054

a) Nano gold sputtering: We will coat various surfaces with nano gold and check to see how much coating we have by inspecting optically and electrically.

b) Can we see nano coatings: This is more like a magic trick using nano-film. You won't see the film but it works!

c) From micro to nano: We will inspect a few different objects under the digital optical microscope and will get an idea of how small nano is compared to microscopic world.
