African American Studies

A new minor, available in August 2017

The racial and ethnic demographics of American society are changing drastically. Regardless of your prospective field or interests, intercultural competence will be a strong skill that sets you apart from others. Learn about the unique history, rich culture and racial realities of African Americans, the second largest minority group in the United States. Our courses not only highlight the distinct systematic struggles of African Americans in terms of economic and political opportunities, we also analyze the adaptation strategies that illuminate the resilience of African Americans as well as their contributions to equality and prosperity in the United States.
