The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks a collaborative and visionary leader to serve as the Dean of the College of Letters and Sciences (L&S). The Dean is the chief administrative and academic officer of the college, reports directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, and serves on the Deans Council and with the Academic Affairs Staff. The Dean oversees college academic programs; budget; facilities management; faculty evaluation, promotion and tenure procedures; and academic staff evaluation procedures. The office of the Dean is supported by an Associate and an Assistant Dean, the College Director of Development, and additional staff. The College of Letters and Sciences has an annual budget of approximately $14 million.
Flexible, with July 1, 2013 preferred.
Appointment to the position requires a terminal degree in a college-related discipline with a record of academic achievement that would warrant appointment with tenure in a department of the college, preferably at the rank of Professor. Candidates must possess a demonstrated record of successful leadership experience and budget responsibility; excellent administrative, personnel management, and communication skills; and a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusive excellence. The Dean is required to work effectively with senior administrative colleagues, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community and disciplinary groups related to the science, social science, and humanities programs in the college. The Dean is also expected to participate in ongoing strategic planning efforts within the college and campus wide, and develop external support for programmatic goals that support faculty, staff, and students in the college.

The College of Letters and Sciences is the largest academic unit at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, with nearly 60 majors and minors, nine pre-professional programs, a professional minor in business studies, and a graduate program (MSE & EdS) in School Psychology.
