Making a difference through planned giving
ENVISION Magazine, 2005
Roger Rowin '67 credits much of his professional success to his undergraduate experience at UW-Whitewater.
As a result, Rowin, along with wife, Mary, have decided to share their good fortune with future students by giving a portion of their estate to endow the David W. Adamany Scholarship fund, named for the former UW-Whitewater professor of political science and current Temple University president.
"Professor Adamany was the best teacher I ever had," said Rowin. "This is my way of thanking him for all that he did for me."
The scholarship will be given to those students pursuing a degree from the College of Letters and Sciences. Rowin earned a bachelor's degree in history and minors in political science, economics and English literature.
Following graduation from UW-Whitewater, Rowin went on to earn master's degrees in social work and public policy and administration from UWMadison. From 1973-78, he served as an alderman for the city of Middleton, as well as president of the Middleton City Council. Most recently, he worked for the State of Wisconsin as the deputy director of the Kids Information Data System, a statewide computer system for child support enforcement. Both Rowins are currently retired and reside in Middleton.
