The Long view of nature
ENVISION Magazine, 2004
Everett Long, professor of history from 1965-1996, emeritus, won second place in the 2003 Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel photography contest for his entry “Mayfly on a dewy morning.” Long became serious about his hobby in the fall of 2000 after attending photography elder hostels in northern Wisconsin and Michigan.
“For my subject matter, I enjoy abstract patterns in nature, especially the macro view of flowers, leaves, insects and such,” Long said. “I like to get into the center of a flower, a blaze of color, not the whole image.”
Long also won 4th place in the 2002 contest for “Spider Web.”
