Information Technology & Business Education

High School Preparation

Information Technology Infrastructure

There is no special preparation required to enter the program. An interest in working with both technology and people is critical to success.

Management Computer Systems

A well-rounded college preparatory program in high school is appropriate for a prospective MCS major. Advanced mathematics and computing courses are a plus but are not required. Speaking, writing, communication and leadership skills are extremely important. Program proficiency tests are available for waiver of two freshman -year courses; students may also receive credit for one of the courses by achieving an acceptable score on the Advance Placement Computer Science examination.

Business & Marketing Education

Students who wish to pursue business and marketing education should possess good basic language skills and critical-thinking ability for college entrance, plus enthusiasm for business and marketing subjects. Students are encouraged to join Future Business Leaders of America and An Association of Marketing Students (DECA) if these student organizations are offered at your high school. Participation in a cooperative work-based learning experience is also encouraged.

Selected secondary courses can be used to meet requirements in the program. Students should contact their high school guidance counselor for more information.
