Teaching Experience at Whitewater

For Fall 2010, I’m teaching Consumer Behavior and Sales Management for the undergrads Buyer Behavior to the graduate students. Fall 2010 is my first semester here at Whitewater, but I have taught Marketing Research, Marketing Channels, Business to Business Marketing, and components of the MBA Marketing Management course while at Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Professional Experience

I was in industry for over 10 years, during which time I worked in customer service, call center management, and database marketing for Sprint for eight years and direct marketing for Crate and Barrel three years.

Research

I am interested in consumer behavior, Internet-based technology, and social theory. I try to combine at least two of these three in most of the projects I do, like an ethnography of the virtual world Second Life, or looking at how acculturation fits with the consumption of food products for Indian immigrants. I have also done work looking at how technology can be used to enhance marketing classes.

Service

This semester I’ll be working with the library to consider what new texts are needed for the marketing department. In addition, I plan to continue doing work to support the Marketing Management Association and their Spring Conference.
