College of Business and Economics

Multicultural Business Program

The Multicultural Business Program is a specialized support program that is a cooperative effort between the College of Business & Economics, UW-Whitewater academic support programs and industry.

The early identification of academically talented minority students for participation in summer internships and scholarship opportunities is a major benefit to students who participate in the program. Students who actively participate in the Multicultural Business Program have opportunities to participate in monthly student seminars, as well as training and development sessions featuring minority business executives and business faculty. Students also interact and develop supportive relationships with other business majors, discuss current issues confronting professionals in the business arena, and gain insight into the expectations of business professionals.

Serving students from Asian, Black, Hispanic, and American Indian backgrounds, the Multicultural Business Program is specifically designed to provide advising assistance and academic support to undergraduate students with declared majors in business. Marketing the success of business majors as well as enhancing students' awareness of existing opportunities in the business profession has increased the numbers of minority students at UW-Whitewater who view business as a viable career option, declare business as a major, and are academically successful in the pursuit of a business degree.

The Multicultural Business Programs offers the following services to students:
  • Academic advising
  • Student seminars on business topics
  • Field trips to business firms
  • Employment and internship opportunities
  • Student conferences
  • Career and financial counseling
  • A lending library containing career-oriented publications

Students also have the opportunity to join several multicultural student organizations:

  • National Association of Black Accountants/UW-Whitewater Student Chapter
  • Black Student Union (BSU)
  • Latinos Unidos (LU)
  • Southeast Asian Support Services
  • Southeast Asian Organization (SAO)
  • International Club
  • International Student Associations (ISA)
