What tips would you give a high school senior planning on applying to UW-Whitewater as a pre-business major?
Tips I would offer a senior planning to apply to UW-Whitewater are to take as many business classes that your high school offers, especially accounting and economics, as there are many general prerequisite classes as a pre-business major and the more experience you have with the material the better off you will be.
What are your short term and long term plans after graduation?
I am excited to put my short term plans into motion coming up quickly because I graduate this December. I currently have an internship with Brady Corporation as a Supply Chain Intern and I hope to continue in that field. So in the short term I hope to find a full-time position in the area of Supply Chain Management, one that I could possibly travel for. As for the long term, I plan to obtain my MBA and have dreams of becoming the VP of Operations at a corporation one day.
How is the College of Business and Economics preparing you for success?
The CoBE does an outstanding job of preparing me for success by providing me with the brand new Hyland Hall building which shows their dedication for advancement and technology. They also aid my learning by hiring many professors with "real-world" experience that they can draw from while teaching. In addition, COBE gives its students many opportunities to get involved in student-run business organizations that allow us to develop our professional skills.
My favorite class this semester is my internship class because it allows me to receive credits towards graduation while gaining real world experience; it's the best of both worlds because through this I achieve in and out of class experience.
What do you like most about UW-W and your classes?
What I enjoy most about UW-W is the environment. UW-W has the resources of a much larger university but with the relationships of small campus. As a university UW-W is continuously improving its facilities and resources for students while maintaining the personal connection the students have with the University.
What I enjoy most about my classes is that the Operations Management major is a very small major so the classes that we take are often with the same group of students class after class. While to some that may sound boring but for most of us it is a real advantage because we can use each other as another resource of knowledge as well as get to know other students with similar interests.
