What tips would you give a high school senior planning on applying to UW-Whitewater as a pre-business major?
I would encourage a high school senior to set high goals and to develop high expectations. Coming into the business program, or even UWW, with an aggressive attitude helps a student so much when it comes to achieving great things in any program of higher learning. I would also advise students to become highly involved in student organizations. The number of friends and experience gained are invaluable. Also, I would advise such a student to ask as many questions as they can when getting ready to enter any program at UWW. Knowing your long term plans at any university helps a student develop an action oriented game plan for how they get to where they want to be and how to get the most out of it along the way. Finally, I believe it would serve an incoming student well to remember that a person only gets out of something what they put into it. An incoming student may be very excited by the social and personal freedom that comes with entering UWW, and they should be, but remaining focused on scholastic achievement should always remain a top priority.

How is the College of Business and Economics preparing you for success?
Explaining how the COBE has prepared me for success could merit the writing of a short book, but I'll do my best to explain my reasons and feelings in a few lines. The UWW COBE gives students the opportunity to actively engage their education in small class sizes, with approachable and highly reputable educators, within one of the most outstanding learning facilities I have ever seen. It is no secret that the COBE at UWW is highly accredited and equally reputable, but one simply has to be a part of the program to see why this is so. It really is hard to expound upon all the great things that the program has to offer, but if I had to emphasize one thing, it would be to point out how engaging and personable the faculty is. This may appear to be some kind of apple polishing, but I am very serious. I never would have thought that I would be coming away from this program with so many memorable lectures and one-to-one classroom discussions with the professors. The COBE has done an outstanding job hiring not only highly qualified professors, but has also succeeded in hiring genuine people who really enjoy teaching and who take pride in transforming students into professional adults.

What do you like most about UW-W?
UW-W really puts together the full package with its beautifully landscaped and spread out campus, its state of the art facilities, its outstanding student programs, and its dominating sports programs. The class size really makes a difference for me. I get so much more out of being in small sized classes where the teacher knows my name and I can ask just about any question that comes to my mind. I couldn't imagine being a student in gigantic classes. It would just seem so impersonal and isolating. These are all things that constantly remind me of how good of a decision I made when I chose to study here. But, if I had to pick one thing, it would be how friendly everyone is on campus. Whether you have a question to ask a student, administrative staff, or faculty, there will always be someone there to give you an answer with a smile. Do they pay these guys to be so nice? They should.
