Why did you choose to come to UW-Whitewater?
I chose to come to Whitewater initially after my tour that I took on campus. I came to a "Friday on Campus day" and absolutely LOVED the program! I was so impressed by it and everybody a part of it that I knew this is where I'd end up. I told my mom that day at lunch; this is where I'm coming! I'd recommend coming to a Friday on Campus Day, or a tour in general to check out the campus - because you'll learn so much and it's a great learning experience for yourself and your family in search for a college/university.
I also came because of the Business program. I knew 100% that I wanted to go into business and I knew that Marketing would be a wonderful outlet for me, as I was DECA President at my High School as well. After learning more about the business program, hearing what it had to offer, and also the opening of the new building my junior year (when I'd be starting my business classes), I knew this is where I wanted to be. The student organizations offered so much to incoming students so I knew I'd meet so many people and learn so much through the staff and faculty here as well.

What tips would you give a high school senior planning on applying to UW-Whitewater as a pre-business major?
As a senior, start planning on going on a lot of tours of different campuses, doing well in ALL of your classes and also staying involved with orgs at your high school. Going on tours of campuses from all over will help you compare programs, "out of class" activities such as sports/orgs/clubs and also give you a feel for what you'd really like in a university, and other things that don't necessarily mean as much. You can get a feel for a school so well if you go on a tour there, and meet up with other students or even faculty to get all of your questions answered. Also to stay involved in high school. Whether its sports, volunteering your time or a student organization -this will help you adjust so much better once you go to college. You will also most likely stay involved when you are out of high school then, and this will help in meeting all sorts of new people once you get to college. Lastly, I'd say continuing on getting good grades. When you start off with good study habits and continue those throughout your senior year you will succeed in the classroom wherever you are and help in the continuation of good grades.

How is the College of Business and Economics preparing you for success?
Well the new business building and all of the technology are definite ways of setting every student up for success. But also all of the mock-interviews, career fair(s), seminars and guest speakers that come to UW-Whitewater as well. There are so many ways to network, and meet professionals in their fields of business. The student organizations here within COBE are a big thing as well. Business orgs help you network, meet faculty, compete in area case-study's and things of this sort - and also teach you so much about resume's, the job market, what to-do, what not to-do and things that can set anyone up for success. Student orgs truly challenge students and I know looking back that I wouldn't be where I am today and knowing the people I know today if I didn't join a student org my Freshman year.
