What inspired you to pursue a major in UW Whitewater's College of Business and Economics?
I knew as an incoming freshman that I wanted to be an accounting major. UW-Whitewater's College of Business and Economics, as well as the Accounting program, had very strong and impressive reputations. I knew I did not want to attend a huge university and as soon as I visited campus, it felt like home to me. Accounting was the only major I was considering. I love talking with other people and always enjoyed my accounting classes. It was the one subject I understood and was passionate about. While touring UW-Whitewater I was also told that Hyland Hall would be finished by time I was starting my upper level courses, that was definitely a plus!

What tips would you give a high school senior planning on applying to UW-Whitewater as a pre-business major?
I would advise to always be proactive about your career. Start thinking one or two steps ahead of where you are currently at and being prepared in the end will pay off. I would also suggest becoming as involved as possible on campus. The college experience will be much more enjoyable and the social networking is almost mandatory for business majors today.

What are your short term and long term plans after graduation?
My short term plans after graduation are to take the CPA Exam and obtain a job at a public accounting firm either in the Madison or Milwaukee area. My long term plans are to become a successful business woman in the public accounting field, have a family, and be happy! I hope to work my way up and eventually hold a management position in the firm.

How is the College of Business and Economics preparing you for success?
Since the moment I walked through the doors of the College of Business and Economics, they have done nothing but try and prepare me for success. Faculty members and student organizations have both played a part in trying to help me understand how I can apply everything I learn in the classroom out in the real business world. I have also learned that the continuous exams and deadlines are how professors teach time management skills. I enjoy that the professors are very knowledgeable and approachable. They are always willing to help in any way possible.
