Field Study (Fall Semesters)

Field Study: Ages 3 through 8 (EDUINDP 443) 1 credit – 50 hours during 1st, 3rd, Fall Semesters
During 2 semesters, students are enrolled in fieldwork, which is connected to the following methods courses: (1) Planning for Individual Needs (EDUINDP 442, 3 credits (2) Integrated Curriculum for Children, 6-8, (EDUINDP 452, 3 credits 3rd semester).

The students make the fieldwork placements in consultation with the faculty member teaching the course.  The instructor discusses and distributes field work requirements during the methods course and informs cooperating teachers of the field work requirements. Cooperating teachers evaluate the quality of the students’ work. Students are asked to use reflective writing and videotaping to demonstrate their teaching skills and implementation of instructional strategies.

Evaluation Form for EDUINDP 443 field study courses:
Field study evaluation forms for EDUINDP 443 are based on specific initial educator standards.  When students complete fieldwork, they are expected to write lesson plans and provide individual, small, and large group instruction. Specific knowledge and skills related to instructional planning and collaboration standards are highlighted in the evaluation form. Cooperating teachers complete the form once along with an hour log to document fieldwork hours. Students are responsible to make available the forms for their cooperating teacher, which can be found here.
