Preschool Student Teaching Handbook

Course Objectives

Students will (see Appendix A for explanations of the parenthetical information):

  • apply concepts acquired in course work into a classroom setting (INTASC 1, 2, 3, and 6; NAEYC/DEC 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 2.1, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.9, and 2.1.15).
  • apply knowledge of how young children differ in development and approaches to learning (INTASC 2 and 3; NAEYC/DEC 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 1.3, 2.1.9, and 2.1.15).
  • improve their ability to pose questions and search for answers through the reflection processwhich may be completed via email, word processing, or face to face meetings (INSTAC 1, 2, 3, 6, and 9; NAEYC/DEC 1.1, 1.2, 1.2.1, 1.2.2, 1.2.3, 1.2.4, 5.2, 5.3, 5.6, 6.1, 6.3, and 6.4).
  • apply knowledge of providing safe and healthy learning environments for children (NAEYC/DEC 2.3 and 2.3.1).
