Office of Field Experiences
All professional education programs at UW-Whitewater include a variety of field experiences in schools and other agencies designed to meet licensing requirements. These experiences provide prospective teachers with opportunities to complement their academic preparation with "hands-on" experiences under the guidance of expert university and field professionals and to decide if teaching is the right career for them. Research on teachers makes it clear that field experiences, and especially student teaching, are instrumental in setting the stage for careers that are personally fulfilling and professionally rewarding. The challenges facing tomorrow's teachers demand that they take every advantage of their pre-service field experiences to ready themselves for being effective teachers in any type of setting.
