Construction Safety Emphasis

The construction safety emphasis is of value to the student seeking a career as a safety professional in the construction sector. This emphasis provides the student with a comprehensive background in work site hazard assessment, safety and health program development, and risk management as it applies to the construction industry.

The construction safety emphasis consists of the following courses:

In addition to the three courses, students are required to pass a compressive examination and complete their fieldwork internship with a construction organization. These three required courses are counted as Safety Electives and do not increase the total credits required for graduation. Occupational Safety majors completing the three-course sequence, receiving a passing grade on the comprehensive exam, and completing the construction internship will be awarded a BS in Occupational Safety - Construction Safety Emphasis.
