Master of Science Degree in Special Education
The Department of Special Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater offers two MSE options. The professional development MSE is for licensed educators interested in pursuing advanced special education course work. The cross categorical MSE is for students interested in obtaining cross categorical licensure in special education.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate Programs
- Autism Specialist
The 16 credit graduate certificate is designed to prepare professionals with bachelor degrees in education or related fields to teach and work with individuals with autism spectrum disorders. All credits in the autism specialist certificate can count toward the professional development MSE. The program is fully online and our department is accredited through both the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) and the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC). The online modules stress only evidenced-based interventions and courses go through an accreditation process called Quality Matters to ensure that the online access is as seamless as possible.- Certificate Plan (.pdf)

- Transition Specialist
The 15 credit graduate specialist certificate is designed to prepare professionals with bachelors degrees in Education or related fields to facilitate successful school-to-work transition planning for individuals with disabilities.
