Dylan's Success Story

"If college has taught me anything, it's that you can't predict life.  All you can do set yourself up for opportunities and take advantage of those opportunities.  The Business and Marketing Education Graduate Program has consistently provided me with these life changing opportunities.  I was only about 18 credits away from obtaining my bachelor's degree at UW-Whitewater when I had to do a lot of soul searching about if this was something I truly wanted to do for the rest of my life.  I thoroughly enjoyed my undergrad degree, but something felt off about what kind of impact I could have with this degree.  I had been coaching high school boys and girls tennis for a few years now and had receive consistent feedback that I should look into the education field because of the impact I was having on kids.  Knowing that this would would extend my graduation by a few years, I struggled to justify making the switch over to education, but I l knew it was the right decision.  I decided to extend my graduation for my undergrad by a semester and began taking credits toward the Business and Marketing Education Graduate Program.

Saying the people in the Business and Marketing Education Program have been helpful with this whole process would be an understatement.  Everyone in this department has looked out for my best interests and have answered any question I've had.  The courses in this program challenge you to reflect on what you are learning and how it all can be applied to a classroom setting.  What made me choose the Business and Marketing Education Graduate Program instead of a different education program was the impact I felt I could have on a student.   You have the opportunity to help students learn things that are truly applicable to their lives.  This includes learning those transferable skills that employers are desperately looking for, handling money and helping them understand what impact they have on the economy, exploring career paths, and the list goes on and on and on.  There are so many things that you can do for a student and make an impact on their lives through this program.  Because of all of these things, I know I'm on the right path for success and I am beyond excited for the opportunities this program continues to bring   me."
