Field Study

Directed Teaching A (EDUINDP 331) 6 credits in semester 3 or 4
This field experience will allow students to spend 300 hours observing and participating in the support of children under the age of three and their families enrolled in Early Head Start or Birth to Three programs. Both models involve supporting children and families in the home or other natural environment. Each student will have a university supervisor assigned who will make at least two observation visits, and review student's reflective writing and learning experience plans as well as the development of an Essential Signature Assessment to be placed in the student's portfolio. Students are responsible to make available the forms for their cooperating teacher, which can be found here.

Directed Teaching B (EDUINDP B) 3 credits in semester 3 or 4

This field experience will allow students to spend 150 hours observing and participating in the early care and education of children between the ages of three and five, in a high quality preschool, early childhood special education or child care setting. Each student will have a university supervisor assigned who will make at least two observation visits, and review student's reflective writing and learning experience plans as well as the development of an Essential Signature Assessment to be placed in the student's portfolio.
