Boys Basketball Camps 2013
About the Camp
This summer the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater will continue the tradition of providing outstanding basketball camp instruction in a fun and competitive atmosphere. It is our goal to teach the fundamental building blocks that make up a great player while creating a fun and exciting learning environment! We offer a low camper to coach ratio which allows campers to learn more effectively while enjoying themselves.
Our camp staff consists of top college and high school coaches from the Midwest, former collegiate and professional players, current Warhawk players and the entire UW-Whitewater basketball staff. The UWWhitewater Basketball Camp presents each camper with opportunities to grow as a player and as a person in an enjoyable and friendly atmosphere. Each camper competes and learns with others of the same age and abilities. Many of our drills are the same ones our players have benefited from in our nationally recognized program.
UW-Whitewater’s campus and facilities provide an outstanding environment to ensure that each camper has a rewarding experience. Camp sessions are conducted in the DLK Gymnasium as well as the Kachel Fieldhouse.
The daily format will consist of fundamental instruction, stations, lectures, and 5 on 5 league games. It is our hope that upon completion of the camp, each camper has a better understanding of basketball skills and all the intangibles that will make them a successful teammate, player and person. We hope you will join us this summer.

Camp Staff
Pat Miller, Head Coach
Coach Pat Miller enters his eleventh season as the Head Coach at UWWhitewater. During Coach Miller’s first ten seasons he’s led the Warhawks to four conference championships (2002, 2006, 2008 and 2010), two conference tournament championships (2006 and 2008) and four NCAA tournament berths. His 209-70 overall record is the 5th highest winning percentage among active coaches in NCAA Division III. In addition, Coach Miller has the 5th highest winning percentage in WIAC history among coaches with at least 100 wins. Coach Miller has also been named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2010 and the Wisconsin Basketball Association’s College Coach of the Year in 2008.
Coach Miller, a 1989 graduate of UW-Whitewater, was the captain of the UW-W Men’s Basketball National Championship team in 1989. He ranks third in threepoint field goals made and third in three-point field goal percentage. After graduating, Coach Miller played professional basketball in Denmark for one season before becoming the head boys’ coach at Harvard High School in Harvard, Illinois.
Other Staff
Head Coach Pat Miller and Assistant Coach Lou Chapman will lead the instruction for all camp sessions. Our coaching staff is comprised of some of the best high school and college coaches in the Midwest. In addition, current and former Warhawk players will round out the coaching staff. Each camper will benefit from a coach to player ratio of 1:10.
Commuters
Commuters are campers who elect not to stay overnight in the residence halls. Commuters do not eat breakfast on campus but will be provided with lunch and dinner. Commuters will be able to go to the residence halls between sessions with teammates or friends if they choose.
Room & Board
Resident campers will be housed in the residence halls located on the UW-Whitewater campus. The rooms are double occupancy (2 single beds). Campers will provide their own linens. Resident campers will be supervised by counselors and coaches staying in the residence hall. Resident campers will have three meals each full day. Meals are included in the registration fee. Campers can request a rooming assignment with a friend. It is our experience that campers, especially younger ones, have a better experience if they attend with someone they know.
Location
The University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is located in southeastern Wisconsin. Directions to the UW-W campus and residence hall will be provided in your camp information packet which is mailed out 2-3 weeks before the start of camp.
Facilities
The Warhawk Basketball Camps are conducted on the beautiful campus of UW-Whitewater. Campers will have use of recreational facilities and the pool. The 60,000 square foot Kachel Fieldhouse is one of the finest facilities in the country and features four courts.
Campus Saftey/Supervison
The safety and well being of each camper is our first and foremost responsibility. All Campers will be provided an escort from the Residence Hall to the Williams Center at the start and conclusion of each session. A Camp Coach will meet the campers at specified locations and times to escort them to their next location. All Residence Halls are automatically locked from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am and a room check is performed every night and morning.
Confirmation
A confirmation receipt/invoice will be sent shortly after your registration form and deposit are received. Campers will receive a camp schedule and information about check-in in a second mailing 2-3 weeks prior to the start of camp.
Camp Fees & Insurance
