Registrations will be accepted until the festival is filled.

The UW-Whitewater Music Department is pleased to welcome Dr. Sharri VanAlstine, Professor of Choral Music Education, to a permanent position within our faculty. Sharri is a veteran public school teacher, having taught for ten years in Minnesota public schools as well as two years at an international school in Germany. She holds a PhD in Music Education from the University of Minnesota.

This year’s festival will once again take place in the Music Department’s Light Recital Hall, one of southern Wisconsin’s finest mid-sized concert halls. As in previous years, outstanding student soloists from your choir will have the opportunity to be coached by UW-W voice faculty. Students who are interested should prepare two selections, one of which must be an art song or aria (any language). There is no separate registration fee for this program, but interested students must fill out a separate Outstanding Soloist Registration form (attached) and return it by October 15.

Cost: $6.00 per singer in your choir, plus music (see below)

General Schedule

  1. 8:00-9:00 am: Registration (Lobby of Greenhill Center of the Arts)
  2. 9:00-9:20 am: Seating in Light Recital Hall
  3. 9:20-10:30 am: Warm-up and Festival Choir Rehearsal
  4. 10:30-noon: High School Choir Performances & Clinics + Perfomance by UW-W Chamber Singers
  5. 12:00-1:15 pm: Lunch for students (many fast food restaurants nearby
  6. 1:15-1:30 pm: Return to Light Recital Hall
  7. 1:30-3:15 pm: Festival Choir Rehearsal
  8. 3:15-3:30 pm: Festival Choir Concert & Recording

Insurance

Each camper will be covered by a limited accident insurance policy. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee. Precautions will be taken to prevent any accidents, and there will be camp health supervisors available. The insurance includes primary insurance coverage up to $1000, secondary coverage up to $5000 and $300 maximum dental insurance. (Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for camp-related accidents only.)
