In this session, an overview of The Creative Curriculum ® for Preschool, participants will make connections between best practices in early childhood and this comprehensive curriculum, starting with participants own knowledge of child development, Enhancing the quality of the learning environment will be one focus, including classroom interest areas, daily scheduling and the classroom community. Ensuring that rich content for children is part of our planning for each classroom area and all routines and activities is another focus of the session. Participants will learn about the goals and objectives of the Curriculum, and the many ways children demostrate their knowledge and abilities in lively Creative Curriculum® classrooms. Teachers' roles in the classroom team and with family partners will be shared and discussed.
General Information
The cost of this two-day workshop (Monday, August 4 and Tuesday, August 5, 2008) is $225.00. This cost is a savings of more than $200.00 of the usual registration fee for a two-day conference by The Creative Curriculum®. Workshop will be located in University Center Ballroom (275A). The hours of the training will be 9:30-12:30 and 1:30-4:30 on both days. There will be a one-hour lunch break so that participants can enjoy lunch at one of the university restaurants (not included in the registration fee). Registration is limited to fifty participants. Participants will receive a %20 discount on all Teaching Strategies materials.
About the Trainer
Donna Bloomer is celebrating her 30th year working in an with early childhood programs. She has led groups of children from infancy through school-age and their families in public school, preschool and recreational settings. From her home base in Wilmington, NC, Donna has provided training and technical assistance on The Creative Curriculum® system to teachers across the U.S. and other countries. She has also worked in child care resource and referral centers and the largest employer-supported child care program in the U.S. Donna believes in the power of humor to enhance learning for all ages of learners. In her spare time, she is a practiced scrounger of classroom materials from many sources and works as a volunteer animal rescuer.
