UW-Whitewater Football Camps 2006

These camps stress the fundamental techniques needed to play football. All of our instructors are excellent high school and collegiate coaches. This is our 31st year and we have the reputation of being among the finest technique camps in the Midwest.
Youth Football Camp: June 25-27
This camp has been a very productive camp for young men just learning the skills needed to participate in football. It is basically for learning techniques, and focuses on instruction for all positions. Each camper will have equal offensive and defensive practice sessions to give them equal exposure to both sides. The emphasis will be on basic fundamentals. Young men just starting their football training are encouraged to attend this camp.
Recommended for grades 4-8
Warhawk Football 2006
The camp philosophy is to provide solid fundamental football skills in a relaxed atmosphere. We will teach techniques that are vital to the athlete in reaching his fullest potential. There will also be instruction in weight training, running techniques, flexibility exercises and special skills.
The purpose of the Warhawk Football Camps is to teach every boy the fundamental and advanced skills necessary to make him a better football player and to help him develop future athletic ideals in sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship. An evaluation will be submitted to each participant at the end of camp.
Camp Staff
Bob Berezowitz , Head Coach of the Whitewater Warhawks, will again head a camp staff consisting of dedicated coaches from the high school and collegiate levels to help you learn and develop new skills needed to be successful in football.
Stan Zweifel , Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator at UW-Whitewater will be the on-the-field coordinator.
Equipment
This is one of a select group of camps which use helmets and shoulder pads. Our camps will offer the use of shoulder pads and helmets together. No scrimmage will be allowed. We will furnish helmets and shoulder pads if needed.
Check with your state high school activities association concerning their rule on equipment. Some states limit you to the use of head gear only and some will not allow the use of any equipment. Some states do not allow the use of equipment belonging to a high school.
NOTE: Participants will not be allowed to practice with eyeglasses on unless they are unbreakable. This is in accordance with NCAA rules as well as most states' activities associations.
UW-Whitewater Facilities
Facilities for all summer camps are among the finest in the country. The main hub of activity for the football camps will be Williams Center Physical Education Center, the David L. Kachel/DLK Fieldhouse and surrounding fields. The center has a swimming pool, 3 gymnasiums, 4 handball/racquetball courts, 60,000 sq. ft. fieldhouse and a 12,000 sq. ft. weight room.
Prospective Campers
Boys in Youth Football through grade 12 are eligible.
NOTE: 2005 graduating seniors are eligible to attend camp. Early application is advised.
Housing and Food
The residence halls are within walking distance of the Williams Center complex and the football fields. Campers will be housed two to a room. The dining halls are located in close proximity to the residence halls and serve three well-balanced meals daily to resident campers.
Insurance
Each camper will be covered by a group accident insurance policy. The cost of insurance is included in the registration fee. The insurance includes primary coverage up to $1000, secondary coverage up to $5000 and $300 maximum dental insurance. (Insurance does not cover pre-existing injuries and is for accidents only.) Every precaution will be taken to prevent accidents. Our camp will have a camp health supervisor available.
Registration
Final registration will be held on Sunday morning of the camp. About 2-3 weeks prior to the start of each camp, specific instructions for reporting to camp will be sent to participants as well as a list of what to bring and the residence hall assignment.
2006 Camp Fees
The camp fee for Specialized Passing and General Camps will be $295 for resident campers and $250 for commuters.
The Youth Camp will be $270 for resident campers and $240 for commuters.
The fee includes the $125 non-refundable deposit. Campers may pay using MasterCard or Visa. Fee includes meals, lodging, insurance, instructional materials, and a camp t-shirt.
Specializing in a Position
Each boy may specialize and choose particular techniques he wishes to learn in the following areas:
- THE QUARTERBACK: Ball Handling, Passing, Field Generalship & Strategy
- THE RUNNING BACK : Ball Carrying, Faking, Blocking, and Pass Receiving
- THE DEFENSIVE BACK: Tackling, Keying, Pass Defense (Man for Man & Zone)
- THE ENDS AND FLANKERS: Releases, Patterns, Receiving, Ball Carrying & Blocking
- THE OFFENSIVE LINEMAN: Stance, Explosion, Pulling, Trapping, Blocking
(Pass Protection, Scramble, Reach, & Double Team) - THE DEFENSIVE LINEMAN: Stance, Reading Reaction, Slant Techniques, Pass Rushing, Tackling
- THE LINEBACKER: Stance, Keying, Reaction, Tackling & Pass Defense
- THE DEFENSIVE END: Stance, Techniques, Playing the Opposition, Pass Rush & Contain
Every camper will be instructed in quickness and agility drill, flexibility, and proper running technique.
