Begin planning your exciting college career. Learn about disability services in a college setting. Break-out sessions will include such topics as admissions criteria, disability documentation and services, living on campus, and a panel of current UW-W students. Tours of the campus and on- and off-campus resource tables will be available. Let us help you get a head-start on your future.

Session Information

This event will provide participants with an opportunity to explore the world of post-secondary education and the resources and services available at this level. Through speakers from various campus and off-campus resources, the participants will gather information during the following break-out sessions:

Admissions
An opportunity to find out additional information from Admissions Staff on being admitted as a freshman or transfer student.

Advocacy
Being your own self-advocate is important in the college experience. Learn different strategies to help you reach your goals.

Asperger's Syndrome
Transitions to college for students with Asperger's Syndrome. What students, parents and others should know.

Assitive Technology
Information will be provided about technology, software and hardware that students can utilize to access the computer and complete coursework.

Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) Services
An overview of the services provided by the Center for Students with Disabilities and how to access those acoomodations and services

Campus Tour
An opportunity to find out more about UW-Whitewater Campus by taking a talking and walking tour with campus assistants.

Documentation Guidelines
What are the types of documentation that are required for the post-secondary setting.

Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR)
Many students are also clients of the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation. Learn about how this agency may be able to help you achieve your goals.

Living on Campus
What is living on campus like? Do I get to pick my roommate? How do I fit all of my stuff into my room? Answers to these questions and more.

Student Panel
Current UW-Whitewater students share their insights about being successful at the college level.

Differences Between High School and College/Academic Accommodations
A comparison of the differences between accommodations and services for college students with disabilities versus high school students with disabilities. Session will also include an overview of widely-used academic accommodations.

Summer Transition Program/ Project Assist
An overview of two fee-based programs offered through the Center for Students with Disabilities.
