Sounds 'n' Visions
Music of the Universe
Saturday, May 2, 2009
Sponsored by the Collegiate Music Educators National Conference
By participating in Sounds ‘n’ Visions, second through fifth grade students have a wonderful opportunity to discover various musical concepts. This year’s theme is “Music of the Universe.” To accommodate the various ages in attendance, there will be division by grade with age-appropriate lessons.
Students will start their space adventure by visiting the planets of our solar system. Each planet will be dedicated to a different musical genre, a French love song for Venus, a bluesy surfer tune for Neptune, and a fiery calypso for Mars. Another stop on the trip will be at our intergalactic instrument petting zoo, where they will be able to have hands on experience with a wide variety of instruments. The end of the day culminates in a final performance by the participants to showcase what they’ve learned. Come join!
Parents may drop off their children in the morning and return for them at 12:00 p.m. There will be a parents’ lounge in the Greenhill Center of the Arts Conference Room (2080) with coffee and doughnuts for those parents who wish to stay.
