Frank Barnes, Camp Director
The Camp Director is UW-Whitewater’s Men’s and Women’s Head Tennis Coach, Frank Barnes. Coach Barnes has elevated UW-Whitewater’s tennis teams to the national level since he came on board in 2002. Coach Barnes is the long time camp director of the ever popular Warhawk Junior Tennis Camps. He has been named WIAC’s Coach of the Year multiple times. Coach Barnes is also a two-time National K-Swiss Pro of the Year for his work as Nakoma Country Club’s Tennis Director, developing one of the city’s largest summer tennis programs. In 2006, Barnes was honored twice for growing the game of tennis. He was named USTA’s Rollie Mueller President’s Award winner, and the USTA/ITA Community Service Award winner. The PTR honored him as the 2010 National Coach of the Year and the 2009 Wisconsin Member of the Year. He also coaches the Wisconsin District Cup 12 & under Team.
Participants will be staying in the air-conditioned Starin Hall suites. For each group of four campers, these dorms provide four separate bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living space, and a kitchen with refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and coffee maker. You must provide your own bedding.
We have found adults prefer to avoid the student dining halls, so plan to eat out off-campus, or bring your own food for meals in your kitchen.
The cost of the camp is $395. Fee includes all tennis activities, housing, Saturday’s dinner social at Cozumel, refreshments, and a Tshirt. A $100 non-refundable deposit must be paid to hold your spot at camp. Enrollment is limited to 48 campers, so register early. Check-in will be at 1:30p.m. on Friday, check-out will be at 3:30p.m. on Sunday.
