ATTENTION:

The Department of Management in the College of Business & Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks three (3) tenure-track Assistant Professors in Management beginning August, 2019. These are full-time positions with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Management, research, and service to the university and community. Research expertise should complement existing faculty expertise in Strategic Management, and at least one of the following areas: Social Responsibility, International Management, or Entrepreneurship.

JOB DETAILS:

Successful candidates will be able to teach Management courses as part of the Bachelors in Business Administration, Masters in Business Administration, and Doctorate in Business Administration programs. Candidates must be willing to teach web-based courses. Candidates will be expected to pursue an active research agenda that engages undergraduate and graduate students, results in publications and contributes to advancing the department, university, the profession, and society. Candidates will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D. in Business Administration or related field by August, 2019, from an AACSB or equivalent accredited institution is required.
• ABD candidates may apply, but must have their degree completed by the contract start date in August, 2019; if not, they will be hired on a one-year contract with the understanding that their degree will be completed before January, 2020, in advance of their first scheduled review.
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching with an emphasis on promoting student success, clear evidence of scholarly potential, commitment to working with diverse populations, and serving as active member of the university community.
• Salary is commensurate with academic preparation and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
• Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Full-time teaching responsibilities include:

1. Strategic Management and other management courses.
2. Research expectations include peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, and other scholarly intellectual contributions. In addition, faculty members serve as advisors/mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities.
3. Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels, as well as participation in community organizations as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest. Faculty at UW-W may be required to teach online, or courses in the evenings or on weekends.
4. Faculty may also elect to teach New Student Seminar or University Learning Communities, or participate in other programs geared toward improving student success.

DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

The Department of Management houses over 600 undergraduate students in three majors: Entrepreneurship, General Management, and Human Resource Management. The department typically teaches 12-14 masters-level courses each semester, with roughly half of these courses taught online. The MBA program offers emphases in Management as well as Human Resource Management. There are currently 16 tenure-track faculty, 12 full-time academic staff, plus numerous part-time academic staff. Eight academic staff members primarily teach Business & Society, Career Information, and Business Writing courses.
