ATTENTION:

The Department of Economics at the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater seeks one or two fixed-term academic staff lecturers in Economics starting August 19, 2020. JOB DETAILS:

Full-Time teaching responsibilities include introductory courses in economics, statistics, global perspectives, and possibly upper-level undergraduate courses in areas of expertise. The teaching load is 4 courses per semester. Instructors at UW-W may be required to teach online and/or in a hybrid format, or courses in the evenings. Instructors may also elect to teach New Student Seminar or University Learning Communities, or participate in other programs geared toward improving student success. Lecturers are expected to maintain professional currency consistent with AACSB accreditation. The candidate will also be expected to embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree or ABD status in Economics, ABD candidates are expected to obtain the Ph.D. to continue in the position
Desired Qualifications:
  • Candidates must show a record of or potential for effective teaching
  • Candidates with a record of superior teaching performance in introductory courses
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION:

The Department of Economics (http://www.uww.edu/cobe/economics) is in the AACSB-accredited College of Business and Economics (http://www.uww.edu/cobe). The Economics Department offers three degree programs: a bachelor's of business administration (BBA), a bachelor of arts or science (BA/BS) from the College of Letters and Sciences and a bachelor of science in education (BSE) from the College of Education. The curriculum emphasizes applied analysis and empirical methods.
