ATTENTION:

The Intercollegiate Athletics Department at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater seeks an Assistant Director of Digital Media & Event Operations (Associate Media Specialist).

JOB DETAILS:


Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the Assistant Director for Digital Media and Event Operations will support and enhance the mission of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Athletic Department. The primary function of the Assistant Director for Digital Media and Event Operations is to provide direct support of all digital media aspects of the Office of Media Relations and Event Management for the athletics program at UW-W, assist in running all social media platforms, act as liaison to the university marketing and media relations office on certain projects, assist in all game operations aspects, including the hiring and training of student workers to enhance the athletic department’s home events and social media. The selected individual will provide alumni, sponsors and fans a vehicle to remain loyal to the Warhawks and build the brand of UW-W Athletics.

The Assistant Director for Digital Media and Event Operations will oversee the process of strategic of game day set-up for select sports, facility and home/visiting team coordination, scoreboard operations and all social media aspects for those games identified as priorities of the Athletic Department. This position will act on behalf of the UW-W athletic department in accordance with the department, university, conference and the NCAA regulations. The selected individual will act as the primary liaison to all digital media and event operations matters pertaining to practices/home events, media contacts, coaches, community/campus partners and conference/national groups, and serve on various committees on behalf of the department. This position will hire and train all student workers for special event/game management duties. This position will also help with strategic planning for short- and long-term social media efforts.

Other administrative duties and a leadership role may be taken on by this position at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • One (1) year of social media, equipment operations, event management, or guest services experience;
  • Supervisory experience of employees and/ or interns/student workers.
Desired Qualifications and Specialized Skills:
  • Demonstrated success in running a social media platform for a college or professional team or department.
