ATTENTION:

The Instructional, Communication, and Information Technology (ICIT) Department seeks a Technology Training Specialist (Information Processing Consultant).

JOB DETAILS:

The position’s primary responsibility is to support the advancement of the skills of all campus staff related to the use of campus technology. The position will assist in the development and delivery of training solutions and methodologies to improve the general understanding of technology concepts. More specifically, this position will develop documentation and provide 1-1 consultations, small group sessions, and large group workshops for campus-supported technologies. The person in this position reports to the Director of Learning Technology.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience providing consultation regarding technology best practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting technology issues with users who have different levels of technology skills.
  • Experience in documenting (both written and video) to assist users in leveraging technology for various uses.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Degree or certification in Technical Writing
  • Familiarity with technology used for instructional and non-instructional purposes in higher education
  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of organizational skills
  • High degree of initiative to learn new things
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently to achieve goals.
  • Excellent professional oral and written communication skills
RESPONSIBILITIES:

75%   Technology Training and Support
  1. Provide 1-1 consultations related to supported technologies and best practices to campus staff.
  2. Design, organize, and facilitate small and large group workshops featuring supported campus technologies.
  3. Evaluate small and large group technology workshops in an effort to continuously improve offerings.
  4. Partner with service owners and advocates to understand supported campus technologies and new features, using this knowledge to design and develop online training materials in both text and video.
  5. Collaborate with members of ICIT to support technology training for pilot projects, as we as assist in developing training for successful pilot projects to become more broadly adopted among campus staff.
10%   Instructional Technology Back-Up Support
  1. Partner with staff to understand tools (e.g., the learning management system) and common issues related to instruction.
  2. Assist with learning management system support and related tools as needed.
5%   Professional Development
  1. Maintain expert knowledge and awareness of trends, methods, and technological advances in technology training.
  2. Attend meetings, conferences, and events (both in person and virtual) relevant to the position.
  3. Disseminate information from professional development activities to others in the organization.
10%   Other Duties as Assigned
  1. Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  2. Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
