ATTENTION:

The Center for Students with Disabilities seeks a Senior Educational Services Director (Assoicate Director).

JOB DETAILS:

The Associate Director position is a senior leadership position within the Center for Students with Disabilities and collaborative leadership within the division of Student Affairs. CSD supports almost 10% of enrolled students. This position provides direct leadership, support and supervision for professional, graduate and student staff related to support programming, day-to-day activities of Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) and services to students with disabilities including, but not limited to: direct student services, determination of eligibility for services, provision of reasonable accommodations, and supervision of programs. The Associate Director will work collaboratively across the University and with the regional community to implement CSD's and the University's mission and goals. QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling, Counseling, Communicative Disorders, School Psychology, Psychology, Higher Education, Special Education or closely related field
  • Minimum of three years of direct experience working with young adults or college students with disabilities.
Well-qualified individuals will possess the following qualities and skills:
  • Student centered philosophy when making decisions, creating programs, and advising students across a spectrum of disabilities.
  • A high degree of cultural competency, a passion for working with students from underrepresented backgrounds, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Experience building relationships with stakeholders from across campus and externally, such as; prospective students and their families, alumni, faculty, instructional staff, non-academic staff and units and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and aligning policies, procedures and outcomes to meet strategic needs.
  • Strong project management experience and ability to think strategically about long-term unit objectives while managing and balancing the day-to-day demands on your, and your teams' time and energy.
  • Sensitivity to student needs and the ability to communicate and collaborate on many different levels to the diverse student, family, faculty, administrative, and community contacts this position encounters is also essential.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and polices related to higher education and persons with disabilities.
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people from diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with transition and other support programming for student success/retention.
  • Individuals who have supervised professional staff.
  • Work with individuals with mental health disabilities and effective practices supporting student success.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

65%   Essential Functions:
  1. Provide leadership in assessing CSD's contribution to the learning mission of our university and CSD department.
  2. Facilitate and lead a team(s) of professional and student staff. Focusing on successful project and program management. Provide support and professional development to all team members.
  3. Complete all necessary University HR and financial service documents and processes supporting staff. Complete annual reviews and recommendations.
  4. Lead talent acquisition process for professional and Graduate Assistants staff as necessary.
  5. Have a primary role and responsibility for the enrollment and recruitment process and transition and enrichment programming. This requires travel.
  6. Research, develop, implement and assess programming based on best practices and data driven models.
  7. Develop and capitalize programming that builds on the power of peer to peer involvement and learning and develop appropriate family involvement.
  8. Work collaboratively with student affairs units, academic colleges, departments and units to bridge multiple university agendas and priorities.
  9. Assist with the development, review, and revision of written policies and guidelines for institutional rights and responsibilities with respect to service provisions.
  10. The ability to prioritize, multitask and deal with daily interruptions with a sense of humor.
  11. Have excellent communication skills including interpersonal, written, and verbal.
  12. Be able to problem solve complex situations effectively with tact.
  13. Be a partner in developing and delivering outreach, training, and resources to the campus and instructional staff..
  14. Participate in institutional, system, regional and state service opportunities.
  15. Develop, implement and maintain marketing and communication materials.
  16. Provide and participate in outreach and training to students, staff, faculty and k-12 partners.
  17. Assist with annual reports, data analysis, and other assessment.
  18. Oversee the prospective student process and partner with admissions.
  19. Work with the team of disability staff coordinators to assure individual program quality and consistency.
  20. Assure that student employees adhere to relevant Codes of Ethics and training.
  21. Knowledge of higher education models, student success and retention, and student development.
  22. Represent the Division of Student Affairs as assigned across the campus, system and other functions.
  23. Ability to use student user database and accommodation software.
  24. Develop and manage budgets assigned.
  25. Provide back up to the Director and support staff.
35%   Disability Services Coordinator:
  1. Conduct intake appointments, evaluate psychoeducational and psychological evaluation batteries, medical documentation, and other supporting documentation related to learning disabilities, ADHD, mental health disorders, traumatic brain injuries, and other disabilities to evaluate and recommend appropriate accommodations in a post-secondary setting.
  2. Assist students in developing strategies/skills to advocate for their own academic accommodations and develop their independence.
  3. Meet with assigned students as scheduled and as walk-ins needed.
  4. Assist students to function independently and develop self-advocacy strategies.
  5. Provide referral, support and information for students.
  6. Communicate with families/guardians of students respectfully and appropriate manner to support independence and self-authorship.
  7. The ability to interact successfully in partnership with instructional staff or other university staff to implement accommodations and collaborate on classroom and co-curricular access.
  8. Facilitate contact with Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other agencies as appropriate. Participate in pre-enrollment assessments; write up recommendations as assigned.
  9. Complete all appropriate administrative forms and paperwork.
  10. Assure that records are maintained according to FERPA, state, federal, system and university policies.
  11. Other duties as assigned to support CSD, Student Affairs and University. This position requires eligibility as a university-approved driver and travel.
