ATTENTION:

The Office of the Registrar seeks an Application Development Analyst (Information Systems Business Automation Senior).

JOB DETAILS:

The Information Systems (IS) Business Automation Senior provides service to the academic community by providing complex programming, design and analysis work, systems development, and complex report writing. The IS Business Automation Senior also assists with PC desktop systems administration services. The IS Business Automation Senior provides effective management of the PeopleSoft Student Module, including the WINS interfaces for the Registrar’s Office. The IS Business Automation Senior is responsible for the software and hardware in the Registrar’s Office, and the individual in this position is expected to plan for future needs in both hardware and software applications. The IS Business Automation Senior designs and develops programming as needed and takes a lead role in the planning, managing, implementation, and maintenance of complex software and hardware products in the Office of the Registrar, typically working with multiple platforms and complex conversion or new development projects. The IS Business Automation Senior participates in the analysis and evaluation of information needs in the Office of the Registrar and works directly with Registrar's Office staff and with the University community to develop or resolve system and application design needs. The IS Business Automation Senior works with other Registrar Office staff to ensure excellent service to the University community and by performing other duties as assigned. The person is a member of the Office of the Registrar team and works cooperatively with office programmers/analysts and with other office staff to achieve University and Office of the Registrar goals. This position reports to the Registrar.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.
  • 1+ years experience writing in one or more commonly used programming languages (e.g., PL/SQL, javascript, HTML) or in 4th generation language appropriate for multi-use/multi-tasking environments.
  • Writing IT programming specifications; performing systems design and analysis; writing program documentation in accordance with published standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

80%. Provide reliable, effective, and efficient systems development by:
  1. Implementing software upgrades for and performing maintenance on the PeopleSoft Student Module.
  2. Coordinating with other PeopleSoft Module developers regarding PeopleSoft maintenance, development, and access.
  3. Designing, analyzing, developing, and implementing new and existing programs/functionality as well as enhancements to the PeopleSoft Student Module and other application systems.
  4. Maintaining and developing systems that support the function and mission of the Office of the Registrar.
  5. Researching problems to determine the best solutions.
  6. Working closely with other campus staff to provide high-quality technical advice.
  7. Providing technical reviews for the work of others.
  8. Assisting and maintaining users by providing technical support.
  9. Running various programs as needed.
  10. Working within current resources to develop innovative and practical solutions to problems.
  11. In coordination with other Registrar Office staff, developing and preparing student data reports to produce quality reports related to enrollment, student credit hours, degrees awarded, academic standing, etc. from live data and the student data warehouse.
  12. Monitoring the daily performance of all Registrar’s Office systems to ensure peak efficiency.
  13. Planning future needs to ensure that viable systems are maintained for the Registrar’s Office and to ensure that the Registrar’s Office systems are compatible with and complementary to third party and university systems, and other PeopleSoft modules.
  14. Documenting all processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and understanding of Registrar’s Office technical operations.
  15. Representing the Registrar’s Office on technical issues.
10% Support the morale an efficiency of the Office of the Registrar by:
  1. Attending and participating in staff meetings.
  2. Providing excellent service to students, faculty, staff, and all in the University community.
  3. Serving on teams and committees as assigned.
  4. Working cooperatively and positively with other staff members and with the University community.
  5. Attending training and professional development as assigned.
  6. Participating in other projects and duties as assigned
5% Backup Support for Data Security and Student Module Access by:
  1. Developing thorough working knowledge of PeopleSoft security features and functionality.
  2. Assisting office systems security personnel to ensure data security and appropriate access for office and University personnel.
5% Provide training by:
  1. Assisting in the development and implementation of training plans and strategies related to assigned projects.
  2. Developing, coordinating, and providing training to Registrar Office personnel, including student employees, for assigned projects.
  3. Providing specialized training related to assigned projects to campus stakeholders/users.
  4. Assisting in the development of documented end-user manuals, web content, videos, handbooks, guides, and materials for the office and university.
