ATTENTION:

The Continuing Education department at the University of Wisconsin Whitewater seeks a Marketing Specialist (Marketing Coordinator).

JOB DETAILS:

The marketing specialist provides marketing support for the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education, adult and non-traditional student initiatives and non-credit offering. These include designing and implementing marketing strategies in line with the campus’ overall brand strategy to recruit new graduate students and to increase applications and matriculation from non-traditional student populations including adults, non-completers and veterans.

The marketing specialist will conduct market research, supervise the design and implementation of digital advertising campaigns in conjunction with University Marketing and Communications unit, and provide analytics and training of clients to understand and evaluate those efforts. In addition, the marketing specialist will be responsible for assuring the maintenance and updating of Graduate Studies and adult program websites, managing the maintenance and updating social media platforms, and directing the development of new media content for all of these platforms.

The marketing specialist will help to create and manage marketing campaigns and will meet with colleagues and staff to manage these projects. In addition, the marketing specialist will cooperate with other campus offices to disseminate information about Continuing Education and Graduate programs. Marketing specialist will report and work under the guideline off the Director of Techonology and Information.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3 or more years work experience in marketing or related field
  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field
Desired Qualifications:
  • Ability to plan, produce, execute, and evaluate marketing plans
  • Demonstrates a creative approach to idea generation, strategy development and Execution
  • Experience in research to identify target markets, competitors, and trends in the marketplace
  • Experience in digital marketing strategy and evaluation of analytics
  • Experience managing social media accounts
  • Project management experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented; excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work as a key team member
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Must be highly organized, able to manage multiple priorities at the same time, and able to meet strict deadlines.
  • Possess strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in website management
  • Understanding of social media marketing
  • Ability to understand and conduct market research on customer groups and trends in the marketplace in competitors and program offerings
  • Strong understanding of analytics to evaluate campaign success
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of colleagues
  • Strong understanding of identify standards and demonstrated ability to adhere to standards
  • Strong understanding of strategic messaging and demonstrated ability to adhere to strategy
  • Ability to cooperate with an oversight office

  • Supervise email/mailing list development and email/mail activities
RESPONSIBILITIES:

60% Develop and implement media campaigns
  1. Assist Director of Technology and Information in the execution of a comprehensive marketing plan for Continuing Education and graduate programs
  2. Collaborate with CE staff, graduate program coordinators, and University Marketing and Communications unit, to design new student recruitment strategies that are in line with the overall campus recruitment effort
  3. Work with CE staff and adult and non-traditional student program coordinators to plan and design marketing campaigns for discrete non-traditional student populations
  4. Conduct research to identify and define appropriate target groups, offerings and media best suited to these markets
  5. Conduct research to identify trends related to the competition and programming for the diverse clients served by Continuing Education and graduate programs
  6. Work with Credit Outreach and non-Credit Outreach program coordinators to design marketing campaigns for their programs.
  7. Research and implement best practices for social media and print marketing
  8. Provide analytics regarding marketing campaigns response rate and return on investment and website analytics and train users in understanding those results
  9. Manage workflow and for promotional projects from inception to on time implementation
20% Supervise updates and maintenance of Continuing Education and Graduate School digital media
  1. Help create and manage marketing campaigns
  2. Assure that updates and revisions of CE and Graduate School websites are completed as needed
  3. Manage updates and revisions to CE and Graduate School social media platforms are accomplished as needed
20% Coordinate Continuing Education and Graduate program media initiatives with other campus units
  1. Coordinate marketing as needed with University Marketing and Communications unit
  2. Align CE and Graduate program marketing efforts with campus priorities
  3. Coordinate Graduate program marketing and student recruitment projects with program coordinators.
  4. Provide regular reports to share CE initiatives with department head, the UWW campus and UW Extension
  5. Supervise student workers.
  6. Analyze market data to provide insight and make actionable recommendations

Continuing Education is responsible for programming in eight areas—Graduate Studies, Credit Outreach, Adult Student Programming and Support, Summer Session, Winterim, Continuing Education Services (or Camps and Conferences), LEARN Center, and Domestic Travel Study.
